I love to see a woman nursing her baby. The contentment they share, all snuggled up together…I almost hate to interrupt, but I also want her to know how beautiful a picture they paint. Breastfeeding is such an amazing thing. What a perfect design — right down to the hormones that make a mother feel more tender and loving toward her child.

I never want to hurt a mother who is unable to breastfeed for some medical reason. I am sure the pain is almost unbearable. But women who truly want to breastfeed come up with some really creative ways to manage it, even in difficult circumstances. I know one single mother who used a SNS for almost a whole year! Everywhere she went, she wore her tubes like a badge of honor, and I was so proud of her!

It is sad to me when women choose not to breastfeed, just for the sake of convenience, or because they think it will hinder their ability to “have a life”. What better thing in life could there be than the tender closeness between a nursing mother and her baby? It’s a truly beautiful thing.
